I have a preban armilite M16a2 that had the long barns guard and I didn’t like it, well I stopped into my local gun store and they said HERE take this, and well I just got done putting on the vintage 70s hand guard. What do you think? I need to find a vintage stock...

have several colts of that style and much prefer them over the newer round ones.

Colt as a general rule did not throw out any usable part. Colt had used a lot of the superceded parts from the M16A1 production line. That's why you see a lot of the slab sided lower receivers (no magazine button fence). Colt had made so many lower slab sided receiver forgings for the early M16 rifle production, it took decades to process all of them into semi-auto AR15 rifles. That's way you see so many early parts on the early AR15. I had purchased an AR15 in the early 1970's and it had a trapdoor M16A1 buttstock with a rubber pad. The rubber pad was only used by the military for a short time as they broke too easily in combat conditions and switched to the hard plastic pad. Colt did not throw the rubber pads out they just used them in the AR15 production.
