Would anyone happen to have a drawing of the contender g1 barrel lug?

G1 - Generation 1

It's just a Contender then there is a G2 Contender

I'm sure making a lug would be interesting and most likely a challenge, but what a lot of the old timers did was take a cast off barrel and cut the breech end off with the lug, then bore it out to receive a shank you've turned on the new barrel. Loctite them together and then put your new chamber in. That's how Vern Juenke was making .17 TC barrels before TC ever offered them. I have a couple Contenders he worked on and they are really great.

Pay no attention to the nit-pickers over semantics. There's a variety of minor differences in the barrel lug over the years, but I think I drew something up a while back, on paper, mind you. I can't remember if I dimensioned it or not. I'll get back to you.

Are Contender barrels, by themselves, an ITAR item or are there other issues with the UK/importation?

Thanks McFred.
Yeah they only show themselves up.
As to ITAR have not got a clue!

Just need cut chamber, cut extractor slot, drill tap sight mounting holes and the forearm mounting hole which will not use the contender dovetail goat rope just drill n tap M5.

Nice! What chambering is it going to be and what is your method of welding?

Nice work!

There used to be a place out west selling them for a reasonable price. I bought a few of them back in the day, and I wish I had bought a bunch more when they were available.

Sorry I didn’t see this until this morning. I keep my print in the shop I sent you a pm to see how close we are.

One difference I (think) I can see is that you left no room for a fillet in your weld.

I make my lugs so the barrel sits on top of them vs down inside of them, get a stronger weld that way. Like post #4 in this thread.

I machine “blanks” that don’t have the pivot hole in them like the last one I welded but haven’t finished in the attached photo, I ream it after welding, cut the extractor, drill and tap and your ready to go.

Bullberry, sells the bots and extractors.

No need of a fillet, straight forward tig fuse there - it ain't coming off.
