I found a box in my ammo stash and decided to play. Suprisingly they fed perfectly thru my 12ga 870 with 18"cyl barrel. I shot three rounds quickly offhand at 30 yards. Eh, I thought not too bad- then I looked closer. Keyhole anyone?

Perfect keyhole

That just means they hit harder! I say that in jest but come to think about it.....

I've tried a few in my "short barreled" 870 and while they cycled OK, I will pass on using them on anything but small game and targets. I shot at a target backed by an oak tree and found the slug in front of the tree after failing to penetrate less than an inch at 25 yards. You can sure carry a bunch of them in your pocket, though!:-D

Oh it would knock the mud out of something small I bet. I'll shoot the rest in a full choke for grins.

A friend of mine has done a fair amount of playing and experimenting with the mini shells, both slug and shot. He found that they would occasionally flip backward in the action, especially when running action fast. The answer is an insert which is a firm friction fit, which eliminates this problem. The insert is available only for Mossbergs. He bought a Mossberg Shockwave for his wife as a home defense gun and it is just a hoot to shoot with a magazine full of the Minis.

The biggest drawback of the Mini's is their cost. I reloaded a few, using cutoff 2 3/4 inch cases and a roll crimp. The roll crimp is must too slow for me. My plan is to shorten the crimping die on an old Mec 600 Jr that I have, so I can load them at a faster rate.
