I won a raffle over the weekend and here is the result.

Davenport Guns in Davenport Iowa was hosting Springfield Days at their shop/range over the weekend. I happened to show up because I was in the area.
A guy behind the Springfield table handed me a ticket and told me to sign up for the raffle. It was free so why not.
They had a lot of very nice pistols on the table that you could take to the range and shoot. Even had a couple of rifles there as well.
Very nice display and program. I got to put fingerprints on a lot of pistols that day.
Sunday afternoon I received call telling me I had won the raffle and to come to the shop on Monday to make the arrangements.
I showed up and found I had won this219353

Springfield Armory XD9 Mod 2 Tactical. I just got it home today because it had to go through an Illinois FFL(Shooting Sports in Moline, nice place).
I haven't fired it yet. I will take care of that in the next few days. It certainly feels nice in my hand. That new grip seems to work for me.
I will see just how well at the range.

Bought my wife a S&W Shield in 9 mm and she didn't take to it. Traded for a Springfield XDS 9 mm and she absolutely loves it. At 25 feet she is shooting 1/2 size groups as with the Shield and enjoying shooting the gun. Haven't shot any cast in it yet but a great gun. Hope yours is the same! I know it will be. Springfield makes consistent guns

Taz, just sort of a political question, but with all the gun ban weirdness in Illinois, did they pass a mag capacity limit? I am supposing that if they did you might want to get some extra magazines for your new piece tout suite.

I intend to do that very thing just as soon as I hear back from Springfield Armory about which specific magazines will work in this pistol. Apparently there are a couple of models that the magazines will interchange.
As far as getting them soonest, it may not matter. I expect them to make all "high capacity" magazines illegal and not grandfather in one that are legally owned before the bill passes. One of the bills already under consideration is written that way.

Congratulations on your new iron!!!!Proud for ya!!I walked into a gun show, recently, just for the heck of it I bought $10 worth of tickets, 2 hours later,( I had left already) got a phone call, "hey you won our door prize raffle!!!" Woohoo, now what did I choose? Well, being from out of state, I couldn't get that SA .45 ACP pistol, cause of no ffl to send to, Henry Golden Boy in .22 LR, nah, got enough .22's, so I took the $400 cash and bought some CCI 200 LR primers, and got the rest of my winnings left to buy some other goodies with!! .(boy, I wanted that .45 bad, it was sweet ,oh well)
