help, I just aquired a 1894 marlin ( built 1898 ) 1/2 octagon, in 44-40. it was missing the ejector and carrier rocker spring. I ordered these from Numrich and the ejector looks like it will work with a little fitting  but the carrier rocker spring is a wire style with a long end then about 2 coils and then a short end with a kink in it:confused: I thought it would be a flat spring. does anyone have an old style 1894 that can tell me if what i got is correct ? a picture of the carrier would be even better . thanks,Ward. oh ya, is there anywhere that shows a decent exploded view or assembly instructions for one of these ?

Enfield, I've got an 1894 Marlin in .38-40(made in 1894). The carrier rocker on 1894's, unlike 1893's and 1895's doesn't have a spring. I'm going down to the shop, taking it apart and taking a few photos which I'll post here.

This is four views of the carrier, with rocker. The rocker swings on a vertical pin. As you can see, there is no spring, or anywhere one would be fitted. It is activated by the lever, which fits in the rocker's recess on the left side.

:-D Wow I wasn't expecting that kind of help this quick ! i'm impressed. thanks for the pictures. yes that's exactly what mine looks like. the reason i thought there was a spring is that the lever locked up a couple times and I thought the rocker wasn't going back where it was supposed to ( and the fact that they showed a spring on the numrich partslist ) I will reassemble and see how it functions. thanks again Morgan !:drinks:
