Lipseys has the large frame Vaqueros listed again, at least in .44 mag, and I have seen them in various stores, for around $610-625. Is it the same large frame gun of old, except with an odd shaped front sight? I might need one of these if it's able to handle the loads that the original Vaqueros would take.
I don't always want to load em up, but I like the option to be there if I should want to.

I do not know the full answer to your question. Because I don’t know the full story on this pistol, no idea where it came from. One day I stopped in at my uncles place and he drags out a gray box. Here inside is a 44mag. Says new model vequaro on the side and has the formerly mentioned sight. He got it off GB, and was thinking of selling it. I talked him into carrying it instead.

The trigger had a large amount of creep.
Also hammer was coming forward as it was pulled so I reset the trigger angle to 0 and fixed the creep issue.

I free spun the cylinder, it has a plunger like the new models, I had to file a little bit off of the front of the hand. (This is not the way the old models were).

I messed around with some paint combos on the front and rear sight. ( front sight has serrations). Much Much better than the previous stainless guns

Finally built a holster for it,

The cylinder is the same length as my old model vequaro, I regret not measuring the cylinder diameter but I will do so.

I want to assume that it is a higher pressure gun simply due to the factory ammo that is out there. It kinda would have to be. (Please to not consider this true at all)!

Seems like a fine gun. Grips have a better fit and finish than a NM Blackhawk. Maybe someone will tell me that it is a Lipseys only or if it is a Ruger thing, seems crazy they would start making a different frame for just this. Not sure.

Nice, solid leather work on the holster.

I like "usable"rather, not all prettied up and too nice to scratch and use.

It would be nice to be able to use my full-bore lever gun ammo in one. The New Vaq's won't do it safely from what I hear. The chamber walls are scary thin on the .45 Colt.

I measured this gun just now. Exact same frame dimensions and cylinder as my OM vequaro. Throats were .4315ish. Fairly uniform. Only thing was that it has the new style reverse pin thing in it. Cylinder pawl was slightly different

Don't be too scared of the cylinder wall thickness. Mine seems pretty strong. Not as strong as an older model for sure, but it's no Colt or clone of a Colt either.
