Looking for a round ball to use in a 16 gauge smooth bore. Bore measure about .661. What would be a reasonable ball to use patched ....and where might one find an off the shelf mold for such a thing. Seems the usual suspects jump from about .610 to around .690 ....does Dixie still offer mold services (a search turned up a few old mentions of them ) ......

I believe there is a guy in England who will make one in whatever size you want. Can't remember the details but bet if you go to the NSSA forum you will find somebody who knows. Jaeger.

I use patched balls cast in a Lyman 0.61" single cavity mold for my 16 bore flintlock rifle.

Lyman also makes this mold advertised as casting 0.662". You could probably shoot this one without patching.

I have used a Lyman .648 ball in my 16 gauge. Paper cartridge, wads and Patch. paper cartridges worked great but wads are as accurate as the patch in my gun.

Lee will but you need to pay the $175.00 set up fee and a 2 mold minimum @ $26.00 ea. THEN wait...

Jeff will get you the mold in probably less that 3 weeks. They come out at the exact diameter if you tell him what alloy your casting with but does not come with a sprue cutter.
