Hogged out Aluminum adapter makes side mount drilled and tapped holes work with 1" rings.

I got a hot plate from the used store, but they are cheap enough new.

I covered the hot plate with a layer of Aluminum foil.
The hot plate is out in the car port.
I put the part on the plate and come back 5 minutes later wearing the face mask and gloves.

I spray self etching primer.

I come back in 5 minutes and spray paint.

I come back in 5 minutes and the paint is dry, but the part is too hot to handle.

Works great.Thanks for posting.

Here it's a presto large griddle.Heck,I Tig braze cast iron broken machine parts on it,haha. On the painting front;stupid cheap "S" and modified "J" hangars bent out of Tig rod or coat hangars are a mainstay in any paint facility.Drive a cpl nails in the wall for stowage.Need an assortment, they not only allow you to "hands free" most parts but, hang to dry.

Changing lanes but still hotplates; It takes 2,we're a Pony,Jorgensen shop but any 3/4 pipe clamp will do....one clamps vertically with pipe up,clamp down on table edge.2nd (shorter) Pony clamps to the first so that is an adjustable horizontal arm to hang(with your new S hangars) parts for either pre,or post heat.

Larger areas can be heated in small rooms with oilfilled cheapo elect. radiators from the BORG.All cautions apply on paint fumes, take offgassing and personal safety VERY serious. We use ISO catalizers,yeah... the kill you dead stuff. But don't think just cause a paint comes in spraybomb form that safety is less important.

On a side note- is that mount for a cross dominance?

My eyes are in real trouble... but that scope is as close to over the bore as I can get it. The scope rings are sideways, as I try to get low and over the barrel.
I use that rifle for shooting pests in the garden with CB short that sound like a BB gun. Like a BB gun, I can see the bullet in the air. I need to hit rats in the head or neck. The distance between bore of scope and bore of rifle is important at close range with tiny targets.

The Win 61 on top is a 1955 with tip off grooves. The scope rings are low.
The Win 61 on the bottom is 1950 with no grooves, but homemade side mount designed to get the scope bore lower.

Great idea! I may borrow that, we have some close range vermin to tend to here also.

Good job on the mount. I use Aguila Colibris for starlings. Sounds quieter than snapping your finger from a rifle.

Here is a conceptual sketch.

I could have hogged out the rail, too, but I was making enough mistakes.
