Does anyone have any load info for this boolit? I understand that the Lee book has it, but I don't have one yet. None of my other books have any info. I will be shooting this in a S&W.

Thanks,

crabo;
I shot the first head of "big game" killed with this bullet (a ten point white tail buck). I have NOT pressure tested loads for this so you use this data with care. It works in MY guns but I don't know about yours...

I use 19.0-21.0 grs of H110 in my .44 magnums. This load RECOILS. Now, it won't scare anyone who regularly shoots full power loads in a .454 Casull, but it is considerably heavier (felt recoil) than a standard factory 240 gr .44 magnum load. I don't use it regularly in my Smiths (only for hunting). In my 629 (4") it is approaching abusive. It works just FINE but is not much fun.

I, and several of my friends at the local club, have found it to be the most accurate bullet we have shot in our .44 magnums out to 100 yards. I have NOT shot it at further distances.

It has LOTS of smack and since the largest "big game" that I have shot is deer, I don't have a lot of need for it. It is nice to know, tho', that if I did need it it is there:mrgreen:.

One of the reasons that I reserve it only for hunting in my Smiths is I believe that it will shorten the service life of the revolver if you shot a lot of the heavier loads. Smiths are wonderful revolvers but the silhouette shooters proved that they do have limits.. On the other hand, if you reserve the use of these heavy bullet loads to sighting in and hunts only, the revolver will last forever. If I was hog hunting, this would be my first choice in loads for a .44 magnum. If definitely will do the job (although I do NOT think hogs are bullet proof as some people seem to think - they just require hitting in the correct place with an adequate load).

Good luck,

18.5 of H-110 loaded to top crimp groove as required by my SRH.

Velocity is unknown but it arrives with authority.

Most accurate load I have shot from the SRH and it is a VERY accurate pistol.

One thing that I neglected to mention:
All of my loads are loaded "long" - crimped in the groove nearest the BASE. This can be critical for pressure. Any loads loaded "short" should be reduced

Thanks, guys. I just got that mold and haven't loaded any as of yet, but I was looking at the jacketed bullet loads in the Hornady 6Th Edition......
