I’ve been digging around a little bit since I found out about this hexagonal boron nitride powder but most info I can find pertains to coating copper jacketed rifle bullets.

My question is has anybody here used hbn powder in place of any other lubricant solely for bare cast pistol boolits?
Any leading issues?
Seems to me this process would be much less work than Powdercoating.

Can you elaborate on the process. Guess I never thought PC was all that much work, But I am open to new ideas.

Well I’ve never actually done it but from what I have read the hbn powder and bullets is put in a small container with some steel shot and placed in a tumbler for a 1/2 hour until the powder is imbedded into the surface of the bullet. Unless I’ve read it wrong.

Thanks, Don't take this the wrong way,,,but I can do 250 bullets in that time in powdercoat. You mention putting bullets in a small container, that doesn't seem quicker or easier to me. It may be and I have not looked it up but can't believe it would be faster of easier than PC,,,unless you only want a few at a time.

Coating isn't thick enough to prevent leading. Same for Moly coating.

I had a company give me a spray can of that. It is sold as a high temperature mold release. It left a very thin, white, very slick coating. The bullets leaded like crazy.

Great for jackets...lousy for lead.

I tried a HBN/clear laqcuer coat which failed miserably.
I have thought of mixing a small amount with PC but to be honest would it improve anything?

In any event we've learned something here. Even if we can't use it we have added to our knowledge base--all good
