Are there any stock moulds similar to the Lee 155-312 but of a heavier weight? I like the boolit as it always fits the bore well ,You dont need to worry about the nose being big enough like in a bore ride design and its easy to get to shoot well in every 30-31 cal rifle I have tried it in. It would be nice if you could attach that boolit to base section of a regular lee 30 cal mould ,would weigh in at guess 185grs. Does anything like this already exist Or are they just called Loverin bullets
I'm no mould designer but is there any reason why making a heavier design like the 155 wouldnt work well?

Thanks,Tim

Too bad this one isn't made anymore. Similar in concept to your question about a heavier spire pt. design.

Now thats a nice looking boolit! But its somewhat different on the nose (yours is .3015) than the Lee 155 (SKS boolit) What I was looking for is how the Lee is .308-9 on the base of the nose just ahead of the top drive band and gets gradually smaller on up. .250 up from the base of the nose its still .305. Seem's to me it would fit up and fill well the longer military throats by design or from wear and has plenty of support in the nose area for the length.

I just morphed the 2 boolits together and it would weigh in at 195 gr approx. just the weight I was looking for.IMO the 155 gr weight is good for 100yd work but something closer to 200 grs would be just the thing for 200 yd shooting in military type rifle competition,Plus a better B.C. than RN designs

I shoot the Lee 155 bullet in my .308 Win. It has a fat nose and would seem unlikely to be accurate...................WRONG ASSUMPTION ! !

It will shoot 5 rounds into a tiny ragged hole at 50 yards with 17.5 grs. of 2400 out of my rifle.

I've got a 30-30, and two 30 Herrets that shoot it very well myself and would like one at about 200 grs for '06 and 308. Good luck James[smilie=1:

IIRC, the problem designing a heavy Lee in 6 C is the block dimension restriction. It's just not deep enough. 45 2.1 could undoubtedly explain it in more depth, but that's what I remember.

Several years go we did design a 200 grain boolit Group Buy, the High ballistic Coefficient (HBC), but it was in a single cavity block.

You may also recall that not long ago we did a NEI GB of pretty much the 311284, that weighed in ~ 200 +. Some buyers had troubles with their moulds, but I think most were pleased with theirs.

So Whats the max. length lee can put in a 6 cal. mould? what I have in mind would be 1.150 max. or a hair shorter if need be. and maybe dropping from the mould at .315 -.316 so it could be usable in a wide assortment of milsurp calibers.
