New Lyman C frame press

I've been looking at C frame presses hoping to find something for bullet sizing.

Though a have a bench full of Lee tools, the little reloader press just seems too cheap and the old presses appear to go for too much money.

I stumbled upon Lyman's new C frame...might be just the ticket for a sizing station that lasts a couple lifetimes.

Of course it should work fine for a number of other tasks, too.

It would probably be good for about anything but swaging. Cast iron is tough stuff. I like its looks. Nice price also. james

I'm patiently waiting for them to arrive in stock here in Australia. They look like they will be exactly what i'm looking for as an additional press to my main rig (Forster Co-Ax).

You can get a new O-frame for less. I have nothing against a C-frame. I just don't trust them, not to break, when they have compound leverage. If it had the old style lever block, and linkage, I would feel differently. I recently saw a broken Pacific C-frame. IDK what he was doing, but it snapped off where it joined the base.

But I have plenty of O frame presses :)

I want an open front to use with the Lee sizer dies...it's a light duty application, so I'm not at all worried about the strength.

I actually have no doubt the cheap Lee C frame would do everything I want, I'd just rather buy something a bit nicer.

I got all giggly and excited when I first saw them, then I calmed down. I've never been a Lyman person, I prefer RCBS and their warranty. However, if those arms don't bend they may have a winner. Cast Iron is hard to beat, and the C style is good for what I need it for. And I do NOT want a breech lock model anything. I'll wait on some reviews...

Not sure why those links are arched/curved, it adds no advantage mechanically over straight links, and in fact could "straighten out" under tension or bend under compression.

I was just looking at the photo wondering the same exact thing.

The other new presses, the O frame and the turret, have straight links.

After looking at the price of a RC Supreme at Bass pro shop today the Lyman C press is a steal!

Those new Lyman presses look rather cheap. I think they probably come out of china where the new casting furnace comes from.

Try to find an old used press. BAIR, PACIFIC, OR THE LYMAN SPARTAN OR OLDER COMET.
I've used a LYMAN Spartan for over 40yrs. As long as you're not trying to form .22-250 from .30-06 any of those presses will give you great service. Touch of oil or grease in the right places and a bit of a wipe down to get rid of carbon "dust" that accumulates over time is all the attention it'll ever need.

I use a Lyman spartan. I like the C frame better than the O frames. Course... I aint doing anything other than making cartridges.

I think I may need one of these for full length sizing my 40S&W brass to get the bulge out.

These new presses are pretty late. They were expected to start shipping Feb. Still not a one to be seen anywhere.
