Last night around 11:30 my Daughter and Son in Law got a call no one wants. His Father was in a car accident. There were 3 people in the car on their way to work the night shift. A 20 yr old Girl was driving, the Father in Laws daughters boyfriend and The father in law. The Fathers in laws daughter just gave birth to a baby with the boyfriend. The Girl was ejected and ended up between the car and tree it hit. The boyfriend was killed. The father in law was in the back seat and is alive. They have removed a part of skull to repair bleeding and drilled a couple holes to relieve pressure. He also has some broken vertabraies in upper spine. He is in recovery from the brain surgery and scheduled for a MRI later today. Not sure what caused the accident, the girl lost control of the car is all they have been told. Please keep these familys and My Daughters Father in law in your prayers. Thank you all so much for this

Father, please be with these families as they navigate this terrible incident. Please give the injured the best medical help available. Please take the pain away and whisper into the physicians' ear as they attempt to heal them. For those that lost loved ones please give them comfort and understanding. Help them to dwell on the good times they shared and not the sorrow of the accident. AMEN

Another update. The "sensor" was placed today to measure the pressure or swelling on the brain, Hes holding his own right now. The MRI is going to be done tonight, I was told spine ( broken vertabas spinal cord damage) and Head. Still being kept sedated and unconcious. Son In Law was told today 8-10 weeks before being released to other care. SIL is looking into temporary Gaurdianship now to take care of affairs. One Doctor told him 4-6 months before the piece of skull is replaced. Right now hes on a ventilator and the broken ribs and other injuries seem to be healing on their own.
I Thank-you all for your prayers, thoughts and kind words. It looks like hes in for a long journey on this road hes on.

They had a meeting with staff and family scheduled for tomorrow. The hospital has been trying to ween him of the sedatives for a couple days now. Heart beat reperation and other vitals go thru the roof when they do. Daughter just left to be there with Son In law but looks like machines and the sedatives are doing the work right now and hes along for the ride. With the injures to brain and spine ........

The meeting today wasn't good. The specialists don't expect him to make any kind of actual recovery from this other than to be alive completely paralyzed and care. They don't expect him to speak or move. Later this week the ventilator will come out and more weaning from the sedatives.

Last week they put in a Trach tube and peg feeding tube in Daughters FIL. Hes holding his own and Yesterday He was conscious for 15-20 mins. Hes been moving left side arm and leg some and occasionally the right sides also. He been fitted for his "helmant" and has it now too. The hospital is now talking a intermediate care facility for him. Possibly later next week. Its not looking good for a full recovery at this time
