you guys that have a 45colt lever [marlin] can you open the chamber up to accept a 460 S&W round?You wouldn't have any more pressure than a 444 rick

NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the first place I may be wrong but think the round is to long for the action .
Also I am sure the pressure would tear the rifle up quickly as 454 Casulls have already demolished a few Marlin 1894 conversions !

You might want to look on ;

www.wildwestguns.com

They made a "new" rfle that looks like a Marlin sort of ! That is supposed to handle both the 460 and 500 S&W MAG !

The action the 444 Marlin uses is the same as the 336 and 1895 .

This action will handle the 50 Alaskan .

The Marlin action that shoots the 45 Long Colt is the 1894 action which is a smaller and somewhat weaker action .
