A friend of ours is having a kidney transplant the 15th. He had a donar lined up, but it turned out that the donar had cancer, so he was out. Happy to find out, but what a shock. Well, Russell is a teacher in Columbus, Ga, and his wife is a teacher on post at Ft. Benning with my wife. She decided to go through the screening process and found out that she was a perfect match! Russell is already at Emory in Atlanta, his wife was headed up there yesterday after school. Lori and I went to their home to get some plants to tend to while they're in the hospital, and a son will be house sitting. Keep them in your prayers, they are probably being prepped as I write this...and I know the Mrs. Is scared and nervous. I told her just enjoy the time off from work, and Lori and I gave her a hug and a prayer before we left.

Prayers for them both. My wife was given a kidney by a friend 17 years ago. All is still well. The procedure and drugs have improved in those 17 years.

Father please be with Russell and his wife as they go through the surgery to heal Russell. Please be with both transplant teams and guide them as they try to heal Russell. Please take and fear away and allow the surgeries to go without a hitch. Father, lastly I pray that you give comfort and healing to these two as they heal after surgery. AMEN

Got news from Russell's wife today via Facebook. His kidney is showing medium signs of rejection. He had to go back to Emory and is undergoing a massive amount of antirejection meds. Y'all keep praying!

Have a good friend who donated a kidney to his own brother, that is about 20 years ago and both are still doing well. It is a rare grace that has touched both lives, the donor and recipient. Prayers for the best in both families.

God bless both these people, and their families. May this transplant work, and work well. It's amazing what can be done these days, but transplants are not without aftercare requirements and attention to one's behavior. God bless all of you in this.

Father, Russell got his kidney but now it is showing signs of rejection. Please be with Russell and his wife as they navigate the murky waters of rejection. Please guide the medical time that is treating him and allow him to keep his new kidney. AMEN

He's still at Emory, I believe that their 36 the wedding anniversary was today. Kathryn didn't elaborate on his condition today. Our prayers are that the rejection reverses.....

Lord please lay your healing hand on Russell and let both him and his wife feel your presence and Lord I ask that you intercede to allow Russell to accept this transplant and that all starts to function just as you designed it to. Amen.

Rejection is a constant spectre in transplants, and a major focus of treatment. Most get through it, with varying degrees of difficulty, though. Still praying. God bless this patient, and let him accept this new organ.
