This is how I weight sort...

I cast about 700 or so, and then the real work begins.. in this case, my lee 6cav Bator mold drops them between 51.1 and 52.4 with some odd balls thrown in. I weigh them individually on a electric scale, and check for base problems and such. Any question and they go into the reject bin to be recast. It is the only way I have ever had any success with 22 cal boolits....

Anybody else have a better way????

It seems that something, would be to figure out what the median weight is and sort for that weight. Everything that doesn't fall within 1/10 grain on either side gets rejected without bothering to sort into a cup. That way you would have only a reject pile and three columns of sorted boolits.

I agree with SciFiJim....I do the same thing. Find the mean then pick a +/- xxx and remelt the rest. For me most of my boolits are large caliber so mine are many times in the +/- 2 to 4 grain sort...but I do some .225s and these I do +/-0.1 grains. I enjoy casting...however, I have to admit sorting isn't my favorite past time.

I sort my 30cals. and go with the +- .05 of the whole number. That is after I size and lube and GC them.I use the most of the common weight and the rest I use for other rounds that it dose not matter to me on some of the weights.The ones I want the group weight like I do is for more of the long range.Use the others for short range.

Well, I sort them down a lot more as the smaller ones end up being loaded in my 22Jet, and the larger ones go to my 22-250 ... for the 223 I like the mid range single weight.. I have found that most of them shoot pretty well for me weight sorted to 2 10ths of a grain in the 22-250, 1 10th in the 223 and 1 10th in the 22 jet.. as long as there is no deformation, I get a lot more shootable boolits that way, and less rejects.. I hate recasting good boolits.. so one weight for each of the different 22 cal = less re-casting

For me, using single cavity 22 moulds gets me outstanding results.
also using one cavity of a multi-cavity mould .
