The deer have been hanging high since gun season started. After watching them I moved my stand about 100 yd's. This afternoon I watched a herd file along the top of the hill about 100 to 120 yd's to my left. One nice doe stopped to feed in a little clear spot. I turned the red dot on and aimed at her but it seemed so far. After a while, I decided to take the shot. I figured 4" of drop but aimed center. I was standing in my tree stand, shooting off hand. At the shot, she jumped and ran towards me and stopped behind a lot of branches just above me. After standing for a few seconds she crashed through all the deadfalls and branches and stopped about 15 yd's from me. She layed down and in a few minutes was dead. I had hit her 4" below center, but also a little left at the diaphragm. No guts or stomach were hit. Bleeding was massive.
I figure that wasn't too bad for the BFR .475 Linebaugh revolver and my home made boolit mould. Hard cast, 430 gr WLNGC style. 26 grs of 296.
I will take a picture tomorrow and post it.
