I was down at the rifle range today and our old buddy Darwin almost made an appearance. There was a cease fire to change targets. After targets were reset but before anyone actually shot a shooter walked out between the benches and dropped down on his belly 10 yards IN FRONT of the firing line. He calmly deployed his bipod and started shooting.

In my book someone doing that gets a permanent ban, period. No exceptions no deposit no return!

If he was the only one in front of the firing line when it happened that was good. Stupidity don’t need unwilling targets for their stupidity. If there were people downrange at the time that is a brain cramp that deserves some sort of censure

Did this fellow have anything to say for himself? How did the situation end?

That is why we have a yellow chain barrier connecting all the benches with only ONE pass thru and that is next to the switch that controls the flashing red lights and recording that say's " no one in the red zone ectra")

The club range is unsupervised. A few of us stopped shooting and left him in his little world. Others shot from the benches. He was quite unconcerned laying out there. His friend was spotting through a rifle scope and his girlfriend watched. I left.

Just one of the many examples of why I only shoot at the range if I am the only one there, too many other places to shoot.

Why I go to the range mid week afternoons, have it to myself!

Our tunnel range has a gate to stop idiots walking down range when people are shooting .yes someone did !,luckely guy on nearest bench spotted him .his excuse was he didn't notice the guys on the benches he had just walked past.

At our range everyone is responsible for in forcing the rules. Not only would he be chewed out and possibly lose his membership but everyone on the line would get a good ear full you would not soon forget. You can't let one fool ruin it for everyone.

The only problem with allowing Darwinism to improve the species is you must get the idiots out of the gene pool before they reproduce. If they die after they have passed on the stupid gene, they have already contaminated the gene pool and then Darwin has to hunt down their offspring before we make any progress.

P&P, well, there IS the concept of "retroactive abortion" but some LEOs might frown at the concept :p

thats my thought. hard to believe no one would stop the situation.

Sounds like the same mentality as some I put with. Dudes bring their girl friends or wives and shoot 4 or 5 rounds then call cold range. Then they go look at the target which is 4 yards away for 5 to 10 minutes. And they do this for 2 or 3 hours. And you say something and they get tough cause their girl friends are there. So I just leave.

That's why I go to the range first thing in the morning (on Saturday and Sunday). We have a few boneheads that rollout of bed late and start showing up around 11 on the weekends...like clockwork. That's my cue to pack up and get outta Dogde.

Well our range is pretty good size, and there is nobody at all in charge.
