I searched and didn’t find an existing thread, so I’d like to start one.

Post a picture(s) of your favorite pistols/revolvers/sidearms. Be proud and share!

Currently I’m really into my SA 1911 Professional and my Beretta M9. Both shoot better than I and feed all of my cast bullets perfectly. And it’s hard to beat a classic all metal pistol!

So what’s yours?

My favorite is my 4 inch SS S&W 44 mountain gun.

Last Aug. I went on a 1911 kick and bought a NIB Springfield for 799.00 OTD should have been 1400 but the shop had just moved and hired a bunch of new people they labeled it a range master.
I had to call Springfield since the serial number wouldn't come up on the site under the range master section.
Once they explained it to me and told me I paid 1/2 retail and less then dealer cost I felt really good.
WHY
Well this is a shop that offers 200 for any gun you bring in no matter what it is yet has Saigas hanging on the wall with big stickers that say BANNED ONLY 3500.00 Plus tax.

OK novel over
Next week I bought a Colt Delta Elite in SS NIB from Buds Like I said I was on a 1911 kick.
For auto loaders I like them the best even more then my combat tupperware.

PS: try to get pix in the light tomorrow.

H&R 732 (Blued) and 733 (Nickle)
Less than 300$ invested in the pair. (Gun broker)

Both chambered in .32SW long. Shooting the .314 90 gr Lee truncated cone cast bullet over 2 grains of Red Dot.

Hardly more recoil, muzzle blast than a .22lr.

Easy on old hands. I won't make any predictions on man stopping other than to say it is my experience that one in the eye gives most people something else to think about.
Caliber is not that big a deal, keeping cool and putting it where you need to. That is the big deal. YMMV

FN-FNX Tactical model.
I’m not a 45 guy and I especially do not like hammer fired guns BUT this thing constantly amazes me.
I’ve handed it to a very skilled shooter and watched him hit clay targets on the berm at 100 yards. I can’t but the gun can!

forrest- Those are some crazy grips!!! definetly not one size fits all! as far as semi auto's go, I do not have one, but I really like the berretta 92's- EMR, if you like single actions, then the super blackhawks are the way to go!- now if you have the extra cash ( I didn't) I have heard good things about the BFR's and freedom arms revolvers, I guess they are the strongest out there, but the black hawk, for me, will handle a good bit more than I am willing to put up with!

My favorite pistol is A 1911 I built up in 38 spl, a wadcutter gun. Has cylinder and slide shop sear and hammer. Hammer is skeletonized for a faster lock time. grips are a smooth walnut panel I made. standad grip safety and arched mainspring housing. trigger shoe added on the king trigger with stop. Barrel is a bar sto 6" I hand fitted to the pistol. S 7 lb recoil spring provides reliable feed and function. This is a lock up gun similar to what the AMU built in the 60s thru the 70s. Sights are a ultra dot 30mm on a bridge mount I made bolts to dust cover frame on each side and loops over the slide.

This pistol is very accurate with hornady HBWC over 2.7 grns bullseye. The old star 148grn are very accurate also but I'm running low on those. Of off a bench this pistol shoots 25 yd 10 shot groups that can be covered with a 50 cent piece.

I always wanted on of the AMU pistols but the price they bring is restrictive, same as having a top name builder build one. I started with a spring field government model bought the parts and started fitting. I planned on a 5" barrel found the 6" and never got around to cutting it down. I made the barrel bushing to a snug fit in the slide and honed it to .0005 of barrel dias large dia. Crowned the barrel with a sharp lathe tool then a brass ball hood is fitted to the slide, link gives the proper locking lug engagement.

This pistol is a piece of art on the targets and looks good also

I have 50+ handguns, mostly older S&W, P&R revolvers, a few Colts, Rugers, Brn, and Hi-STs. If
I had to pick one it would be my S&W M17, K22 which I've had since 1964. I have got more use
out of it over the years than any other. The only hand gun I own that has no sporting application
is a Walther PP, 32.

Hard to decide between these 2. One is a 44spl Hand Ejector from the late 1920's and the other is a 4" 629 that now has a green fiber optic sight that has been to many Alaskan salmon stream with me. The older gun will out shoot the new one any time I do my part. I have another "favorite" but I'm guessing that the people here are getting tired of looking at "Old Ugly", a 9" black coated SRH 44, but it is a huntin' machine with any cast boolit you stuff into it.

They are interesting -- and historical. The 400 is in 9mm Largo, but will also shoot .38 ACP (not .38 Super -- very dangerous) and was adopted by the Spanish Army in 1921. They are generally considered to be the only straight blowback design of that large a caliber that was commercially successful and practical. They remained in service into the 1970s with some units, giving them a similar run to our 1911. During the Spanish Civil War (1930s) they were used by both sides and manufactured in smaller quantities by a couple of other makers. Astra started making them for the Republic, but their factory was overrun by the Nationalists, so the Nationalists benefited from both the early and late production. They are very accurate, and won many European competitions, but the sights are tiny and obsolete by today's standards. In WW II the Germans were pistol hungry and asked Astra to make the pistol in 9 mm Luger, the result being the 600/43. After the war they continued in use by some German Federal agencies. If you get a chance to buy one of either model by all means do it, but check the bores, especially the 400 model which used corrosive ammo up until the middle 1960s. The barrels of the 400s will often be marked, visible through the ejection port, or the top rear of the slide as "9mm/.38", and the 600s are usually marked 9mm 08 on the barrel and 9mm Parabellum on the slide; but some of both types are not marked indicating something a little unusual and probably collectable in their manufacture. Some folks shoot 9mm Parabellum (Luger) in the 400, and this is a very poor practice as the chamber is too long and the shorter case does not seat on the ledge provided for it at the front of the chamber and is only held against the face of the slide by the extractor. Break the extractor and you'll have a rough time finding a replacement as Astra went out of business around 35 years ago. Otherwise, they are a tough gun, and with the right ammo will last a lifetime. When they were first imported they were going for around $125. I saw a 400 go at auction just two days ago for $380. It appeared to be in nice condition. I do have a few more:

My "plain vanilla" Sig-Sauer P225 that was "surplused off" by the German Forest Service & that I bought about 2 decades ago to carry as a SC State Constable. = It has never failed me & shoots any sort of 9x19mm ammo that I've tried in it.
(SLED only allowed Constables to carry .38/.357 revolvers or a 9mm that has a capacity of 10 rounds or less. = The P225 holds 9 rounds.)

Very nice. Is that a factory two tone? I never knew they made such a thing.

On the topic of favorite handguns, I have to also mention my Glock 42 and S&W 637. Both are more accurate than my shaky hands can do, especially with reloads. In fact I shoot them just as well as larger guns. Spent some quality time with both this morning and was reminded of this fact. I feel well protected with either one.

Tough choice. I can narrow it down to 4, but when all is said and done, the one I'd most hate to part with is my Dan Wesson. It is just so versatile, accurate, dependable, and beautiful! These images are of the same gun with different barrels, shrouds, and grips. My fav grip, which I did not post, is the smaller "Traditional" grip, much like the vintage S&Ws.

A few other contenders would be my Freedom Arms 83 in 454 and my Colt 1860 (It's a Colt, but third gen, so some would argue not). And then theres the S&W 500 Mag that my father bought me on a whim :bigsmyl2: I don't have any pics but having a blast shooting it!

The P225 [AKA P6] is one of the great "sleeper" pistols. It will function with just about any safe 9mm round that will chamber, they are monotonously reliable and I've yet to see a bad one.

Still new to this forum but been around these "tools" most of my life. This is a slightly modified S&W Mod 686. It was done by Ned Christensen of Michiguns. He made it heavy but as you can imagine, there is almost no recoil. The bbl was huge and he whittled it down to this. He wanted to be able to shoot it from the barricade position in PPC. It's got a trigger stop, lightened hammer for a faster drop. Aristocrat 3-*** rear sight. He even cut a "picatinny" rail into the top of the bbl then contoured it. A dot scope fits on top nicely for Bianchi shooting. I don't think these pics do it justice, but it's what i can do at this point. Lefty, I am very fortunate to have known Ned for about 30 years, over those years he has been a good friend and a great gunsmith. I am lucky to have some of his pieces. He built a .45 pin/plate gun for my wife about 25 years ago and I must admit that it is one of my prized possessions. I used it to shoot Bullseye years ago and shot my first 100 Timed fire in a match with that .45. He is quite the artist. This revolver is absolutely a 1-off. I am confident there is not another out there like this one.

I think the BHP could have been more competitve than it was if FN/Browning had offered more variants of it. The average handgun purchaser, at least in the USA, isn't looking for a $1000.00 blue steel full size. I think a commander size model with aluminum frame would have sold nicely. In any event, I'll always be a fan of the Grand Puissance.

Rams horn, gottem from a fella here on CB's...I bought two sets from him, I think I have a new home for the second set now.

I guess I'm old school. I always wanted a .44 Special single action so now I have 3: a USFA 4 3/4" Single Action; a Colt New Frontier 7 1/2" SAA, and a Cimarron Bisley 4 3/4". Of the three, the Bisley is the best shooter/worst sights. I'd upload a pic but IMGUR, my replacement of Photobucket has failed me.
