I will get started on a new rifle for my son and will start from scratch with a good piece of black walnut. He is quite tall at 6'10' and need some advice on how to determine LOP for a guy this tall. Any suggestions?

An old standby has been to hold the rifle by the pistol grip in the shooting hand, palm up, with the finger on the trigger, and the elbow bent 90º. The end of the stock should lie right up against the bottom of the bicep.

I can't remember for sure but standard is 13 1/2 " for a average guy that is 5' 10" then you add a 1/8 th for every 1" taller or subtract by same theory . Good luck James

Measure a gun that he likes the feel of the length of? The above comments are right on, but what feels good feels good. BTW, when you get fat your length of pull decreaseses. Don't ask....... Shape of pistol grip - long with small angle vs short grip with tight curl affects length of pull too.
