Is this the X-Frame grip?

This is the only one I am finding and it looks like it is for a round butt like my CS1 686.

Anyone got any info on the square butt and if you can buy it from Brownells or only S&W?

I'd call S&W and ask them if this catalog item will fit the gun you want to use it on. I have a 329PD and it is a round butt, but the Hogue grip (made exclusively) for S&W 500X frame guns will fit it. Hogue only makes the 500 grip for S&W and will not sell it direct. I tried! When I sent my 329PD back to the factory for repair, at my request, they kindly replaced both sets of grips that came with the 329PD for a set of the 500X grips. I'm now a happy camper.
