Well, after getting my wife a little Taurus polymer 605 in 38/357 for Christmas to carry, and after we both shot it a bit, I started thinking about a nicer gun to have in the house rather than my carry gun (Walther PPQ M2 btw, nice gun). Ran across a sale on a couple of different Taurus stainless steels with 4" barrels and picked out the model 66.
Got it in the other day, took out and shot a load in 38sp I had made up for my wife's practice ammo and it was nice. Loaded up a few 357 and some heavier loads in 38 using 140 and 158 grain and when it warmed up to a balmy 48 and not too much wind (main issue with my current setup, can't keep the paper vertical even with weights on bottom) went back out and fired off a couple of dozen rounds. NICE the one word that describes it. Good trigger in my opinion. WAY better than the 605. (605 is twice the pull weight if I had to guess, and that is good for a concealed purse gun) Smooth and feels fine to me. Kept all the rounds on the paper even with a 10-15mph gust. Got to finish my bullet trap.....
At any rate for less than half the price of a S&W or Ruger (which are really nice guns) I have a really good wheel gun.
Now to load up some more..... BTW, the Bullseye loads posted here are great to start. 824 fps on the 38sp 140grain over a low starting load and 1280 on the 357 over a medium load 158gr.
Oh, picture.....213620
