I was talking to Buckwheat Paul on the phone this morning . During that conversation the word 'honor' was mentioned . I have thought on it during the day and questioned myself if I am an honorable man . I am not perfect and I have failed many times but after much thought I think we all have . Is honor being right all the time or in the trying ?

Honor is being ethical , moral ,honesty, fairness, or integrity in one's beliefs and actions . Many were described as honorable in our bible . Each were doing what was right in the eyes of GOD to honor him to which all honor is due .

I have heard it said that honor is a gift you give yourself but that is wrong . Honor is given to GOD through what we say and do in his name . Being obedient in prayer , reading his word and being honorable in all we do with others .

Matthew 25;21

His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

Honor is taught by our mentors....honor is always doing the right thing even when no one else is watching and even though it might not be popular....honor isnt easy....just doing the right thing every time.....with that said.....I do fail ..... but I keep trying to live up to the standards that my mentors (parents, family, and church) have installed....IMHO

I did a youth group message on “Honor” some years ago. The Word Of God has much to say on the matter.

Amen Charlie, This is a problem we all face in these fleshly bodies who want to honor themselves.

Found this to be interesting and relevant.

Honor is used in two different senses. We can speak of a person's honor and we can talk about giving honor to another person. A person's honor is his integrity. It is the idea of doing what is right in all situations. "Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men" (Romans 12:17). The writer of Proverbs said, "Better is the poor who walks in his integrity Than one perverse in his ways, though he be rich" (Proverbs 28:6).

I think that so far you're all correct, but Pine Baron comes the closest to my concept of honor by saying, a person's honor is his integrity."

So honor = Righteousness? I don't think so. Righteousness is of God, I am incapable. Only through the Spirit in me am I able to be Righteous - do the right thing.

Pine Baron is dead on target in my opinion.
