I am looking at a Rhineland Arms 9mm conversion for a Mauser short action.
Not sure what to do to modify the bolt.
Any suggestions?

Rhineland should have a solution since they are selling the kit.
Extended blank extractors are made for 98 Mausers but I don't know about SR actions. A thin washer suitably modified and epoxied to the bolt face could work to hold the 9mm case head.

tig weld it, re-machine it, normalize it, then reharden it.

I believe that Roy Dunlap's book on gunsmithing showed soft soldering a washer to the bolt face for smaller case heads. It was slotted on the bottom so the case could slide up the bolt face as it is fed from the magazine.

or just recut the barrel chamber to 357 AMP which uses standard .473" diameter cases.

I machined a c ring to use 223 in a 98 mouser. pinned it then tig extended the extractor it works well. I built this because fellow said it could not be done. I pinned because I do not intend to leave it 223 I could have tigged 2 spots to hold ring in place

I have a M38 Swedish Mauser that has an arsenal repair to the bolt face. The original bolt face must have been nicked up because the replacement repair is also nicked up.
The bolt appears to have been bored out about .060" deep and a steel disk was inserted. It is held in place by a press fit on the OD. The disk was drilled for the firing pin and was slotted for the ejector.

It would be just as easy to machine the new bolt face to have a flange or skirt to capture the 9mm case. You would still have to extend the extractor hook.
