verguiero rear sight removal

looking to remove so i can put on a b square pistol mount just to try out to see how accurate the rifle is as my open sight shooting leaves alot to be disired...
tried to punch out even with ladder spring clamped down but it doesnt want to move and i dont want to force it
any ideas?

I don't know about the Portuguese rifle but on several Mauser you punch the elevator down and back against the spring pressure to remove the sight. What looks like a pin is the tabs that hold the leaf in recesses in the sight base. I hope I helped.

many thanks for reply....i did try that but it wasnt budging so i stopped.
i will soak it in penetrating oil and try again but this time i will support the other side of the sight and see if that helps

Flip the sight up. While pushing the sight body down against the spring, tap the bottom/front of the sight towards the action. It will pop out. Do not hit those lugs that look exactly like pins.
