Anyone want to suggest a powder and starting load? Boolits are ready, cases are ready, AR is ready...

These are sized .310 with Smoke's clear and Ly GCs. Alloy is COWW and Cu babbit, air cooled. No idea of hardness. Dressed for the dance the are about 140g.

I've already shot a bunch of stuff, jacketed and cast, but not this exact boolit in the AR..., yet. This boolit works purdy good in 7.62x39 in an AR sized accordingly.

Let us all know how these shoot.

Do you have a velocity goal ? ?

Popper, that's kinda where I think I'm heading for starters - I've got W296, same-o, same-o. I've also got some N110 that I might try, but that stuff is rather pricey. It and some N105 is left over from a project Felix and I did awhile back with cast in a .223 bolt gun.

Ben, feed, function and accuracy first. Then I'll ramp it up until it goes south and back off.

I have a borrowed upper that feeds a multitude of cast very well, but the barrel I have has a short throat, and I'm trying this as a solution. It shoots the Nosler 125BT very well, but those are a little expensive even when on sale.

Tested some yesterday with 14.0/W296. Feed and function was okay but not bolt lock on last round. I will move on to 15.0 and try a few more. Rounds were shot off hand at fifty rounds and shot to POA.

15-16 gr h110

I've had real good results with a similar boolit in a 16 inch 300 with a load in the above window, seems to be the sweet spot for this particular carbine

15-16gr load seems to be good for 140-190gr boolits, 110, 1680, cfeblk. Lighter for heavier. 16 (H110) is pretty stout in my 18' carbine with the 145gr. Really loud in the 10" pistol.
