View Full Version : Inexpensive lube wrench for RCBS lubrisizer
I bought a used RCBS lubrisizer several years ago as part of a starting casting kit. According to the original owner he either loat or broke the ratcheting wrench to crank the lube. He had a really cheap pot metal wrench for that purpose. Needless to say, it broke. As I was trying a few things around the house, I thought there must be a inexpensive light weight solution.
I came across this at harbor freight. And thought that I would share this with others who may have the same problem. So far it's working great!!
It's a right angle screwdriver. Has an 8 piece set... And is only $3.
Enjoy!

I have the same one. My Lyman was missing its wrench when I got it. The press was new but the previous owner had lost the wrench. Thanks, Harbor Freight.

for less than $10 at Amazon, this stubby 1/4 ratchet is ergonomic and has very fine clicks with a high quality feel.

Those all look like good ideas. I use a 1/4 inch ratchet wrench on mine. Probably a Craftsman.

Lyman sent me one FOC...Free Of Charge. Can't get any cheaper than that.
I sent E-mail so I didn't even pay for a postage stamp.
Nothing beats free....I love freebies !

I use a flat ratchet from a full set. It does not need to be dedicated to the lube sizer. It's more like sorta borrowed.

I have never had an RCBS sizer/luber with a hex wrench. They have always had the push through rod that I kept bending.
So, I finally drilled out the end and put in - silver soldered - part of a 1/4" Allen wrench.
Recently the ratchet wrench from my Lyman sizer/luber that was being used on both tools gave up so I went to the local NAPA and ordered a couple of ratchet wrenches.
One for the tool, one in the drawer.

Geez, am I that old?
My RCBS Lubrisizer apparently predates the ratchet.
I guess that's just something else I don't have to worry about breaking or loosing.

Any hardware store that carries wrenches will have reversable direction 1/4" end wrenches that will last longer than some of the "bargin" deal wrenches.Robert

My RCBS had the little rod with the black balls on each end, scrounged a junk 3/8 drive 1/2" socket. Cross drilled a 1/4" hole to match the hole the little rod had passed through. 1/4" bolt to mount and now I just grab a 3/8 ratchet. Ratchet feed with plenty of leverage.
