View Full Version : Does Someone Here at CB Rebuild Lead Pots?

My oddly good and bad memory tells me some dude here a few years ago decided to tear down and rebuild and re-paint his electric lead furnace then got cajoled into doing it for others. For a good-guy nominal fee worth every penny as I recall.

But by search skills must have weakened. "furnace" and "repair" or "rebuild" doesn't find the thread in the first two pages of results. Substituting "lead pot" changes the result very little.

A little help here? Seems I remember the guy was retired and liked the combination of keeping a little busy and getting a little bit of coin into the household.

Thanks!

I used a Lee 10lb pot for 3 decades. The heating element failed. I bouts a new heating element and fixed it. I also installed an angle bracket to support the weight of the lead pot which greatly improved the pot. As far as maintenance, I clean the pot every 20 or 30 pounds to reduce the 'dripomatic' effect. Other than that, no other maintenance, or rebuild

I think Beagle333 is correct. It seems like the member was DeputyDog and I don't remember seeing him post in a long while. Seems like he was having some health problems at the time. The rebuilds that he posted looked really nice. Hope he's ok!

DeputyDog25 was a vendor sponsor sometime back, but he hasn't logged in since 01-12-2016 (2 years ago).
I had to dig through a lot of posts to find anything about his repairs/restoration service. This post was a castboolits site benefit and a benefit for the Wounded Warriors Project.

I recall he had health problems, but I couldn't find much about that either, except for this one about a power chair.
