What size boolit can you load in it? I keep thinking about having a 30-30 hogged out to 38-55 but I would like to load it with the same Lee boolits I load in my 130 year old
Marlins. Thay are .381" . Thanks for any info.

I talked to Jesse about what size he recommends last week. I had lost the load he included in my rebore. He stated he recommends a .376 with H4198 as the powder. And good luck finding a .376 bullet sizing die.

CH4D will get you one
Lee will get you one

The lee ones are a 6 week wait. I LOOKED.
I am contemplating the NOE setup with the bushing set up HOWEVER you buy the die body for $40 them you buy a ram for specific caliber groups which if I remember are $7-10 then you buy each bushing at $10
In the long run if you have many sizes of bullets it will be cheaper but for one or two sizes..probably not. Just an FYI.

If I use Winchester brass, I use bullets sized .377. If I use the thinner Starline brass I can use a .379 bullet I size in a .380. Both shoot great with 4198. You might be able to chamber a .381 in Starline but don't know as .381 is pretty fat. The .379 will NOT chamber in Winchester brass. Mine will accept the long Starline.

I have both .377/379 and I have not finished testing yet but soon will determine which works best with the Lee plain base ,might go for a gas checked boolit .

Buckshot should be able to make you a custom sizing die. He has made a few for me in the past. His stuff is the best.

The OP mentions a Win 94 getting rebored out to the .38-55. What NOE boolits feed well with that rig? How about the Lee boolits? Any particular thing to watch out for when selecting a mold?

Its actually a Marlin 336 and I already use the Lee mold in my 1881 Marlin and my Ballard. The point of this exercise is to try and use one round in all three rifles. Although as I am typing this I am realizing I will likely load the 336 hotter than the 130+ year old rifles. Thanks for all the input and ideas. You guys are great!!!

I have the NOE 379-279 and it feeds fine in my 94. It's nose is nearly identical to the Lyman 375248 which I also have. The reason I size .379 for the Starline is that the Stl is too thin to hold a .377 bullet. My 94 will also feed 3 other bullets including the LEE. All are plain base.

I use 2.082 Starline brass and size .377 for mine. It seems to group better than with the .376 with the softer 12Bhn and under I use in my JES rebore Marlin. I'm using RCBS Cowboy dies with the larger expander plug.
I've settled on 3 loads, all from the Accurate 38-250B mold. This one I had made up as a plain base bullet. 10gr Universal at 1220 fps for plinking, 21gr 4198 with a tuft of dacron at 1400 fps for heavy timber deer hunting, and 32 gr 3031 at 1600fps and powder coated if I want to get real serious.
The Lee 38-250 mold works real well in this rifle too, but I prefer the Accurate mold.

I have a sweet load for my M1893 and also does very well in my Marlin 336CB:
WW cases, WLR primer, 28gr Reloader 7, 375449 or 375248-latter with a 0..060" thick LDPE seated with/under base of it

Would there necessarily be any harm in using a boolit .003-.004 oversize as long as it chambers freely and you carefully work up your loads?

I shoot .377 and for some reason tried .378 both worked well. Lee 250 boolit coww, over 16.5 or 17gr IMR 4227 with dacron. Getting 1350ish fps and great accuracy from my mod 94 20 in. bbl convert.

Greetings
WE have a couple and Jes O. recommended .377. So not to argue that is what we have been shooting in them. That includes a 375 Winchester he did.. They are the same critter.

I have not had any trouble shooting oversize bullets. Accuracy is still good since it fits a fired case it seals good. Don't know about pressure problems as I am not using firewall loads. I'm in the BP equivalent range.

Do I just mail it to him and then him back to me? I couldn't find any thing about it on his website.

Call him and leave a message, he will call you back and tell you what you need to do...

Got mine back a few weeks ago, larger (379) bullets are grouping better the the 377 at this time with 4198.

You can size to .379 ,works in mine and being a rainy day I have just finished stuffing 175 new starline brass with a Lee 250 grain boolit . Said boolit will sit on 4227/ 5744/2400 (1/2 grain dacron )/unique/and 3031 powders /almost forgot /40 grains OE 3F over a wad stack ,should be a good day at the range :bigsmyl2:
