Hi guys,

I finally received my Russian Paradox mold. Looking at loading in 2-3/4" Fiocchi hulls. With other slugs I can replicate based off of shot loads of comparable weight and reduce by 10% and start testing. With the Paradox I will be loading using the tail wads. Can anyone suggest load data to start with for these. Powders on hand are WSF, Clays, 800-X, Longshot, Green Dot & Blue Dot. My tail wad assemble is ringing in at 585 gn. The slug itself is right around 532 +/- but with this style I figure I should be including the weight of the wad as it is attached to the slug.

Thanks,

I would start with 38 gr blue dot, should be about 1300 fps with 9k psi w/616s or Win 209 primers. This is 1 1/4 oz lead shot data off castpics. Looks like a pretty tall load. Gonna roll crimp I guess. Good luck.

I think Hogtamer has it right at 38 grs. Though you might want to drop that to start due to recoil, not safety concerns.

I always refer back to the Precision Rifle pressure tested load data for their 610 gr. Piledriver full bore slug. Pretty vague overall in that they just said to use any straight walled hull and didn't spec a primer.

They started at 36 grs. Blue Dot and topped out at 44 grs. IIRC and pressure of 12,500 PSI which I thought high.

I was loading 0.735" RB at about 580 grs.

I started at 36 grs. And if memory serves didn't go beyond 38 grs. I might have gone to 40 grs. then back to 38 grs. but that is where I stayed.

Recoil in a single shot was attention getting to say the least. I can't quite imagine what 44 grs. would feel like and with heavier payload... and more bore friction.

I'm not too recoil sensitive but that was enough for me!

You bought the good mold.
Yep 38 blue dot or 22 green dot, 32 Longshot.
For half the price of eBay & A.S. molds check out there Facebook or new website.

The paradox slugs will shoot accurately with reduced loads also. I started using just 33gr. of Blue Dot with both the tail wad installed and loaded over a 12X12 and a brush wad. Both shot into 3" at forty yards. I'll be adding more powder on my next test. Gp

I went up to 1400 fps with Vihtavuori 3N37.

Dear Santa, how about that Pressure Trace system...?
