The 300Gr Rem J/HP the best group I can get with it is about a 2in by 3in group. After all of the loads I have fired with this Bullet I think it just does not have enough bore ride to stabilize it. Some may have better luck. But I give lol. Too much powder and shooting with not much in the way of improvement. And I started with the 300Gr Rem J/HP from 56G all the way through 60.5Gr of H-322 and the 60.5Gr did the best of the lot.

Now onto the Hornady 350Gr J/RNSP with 53Gr of H-322 and a Fed Primer 210 gave me a group 1in wide by 3/4 Tall. So I think I am going to stick to this load.

All shots were done at 100 yards with a Marlin 1895 GS in 45-70 with Remington Brass.

<<Too much powder and shooting with not much in the way of improvement. >>

You see it time and time again and this is what confuses the issues for cast.

Two identical 280 Rems. Barrels made together by the same guy, both with 9 twists. Chambered and barreled by the same guy together, and the personalities are entirely opposite.

One will shoot 140 grain and less bullets like you want to take it to a benchrest match. It sprays the heavier slugs.

The other won't even begin to think of shooting until 150 grains but handles all the heavies well.

Another 7MM barrel at the same time was made into a 7MM Rem Mag. It's solely a one powder, one bullet gun no matter how you try to bed it. That's a 145 Speer with 4064 powder of all things. (about 60% load density )

So when you get two 38 twists and one will not shoot lead over 265 grainers and the other one will but gets finicky, is it worth spending money on mold after mold to try and find a design to work? Or is the deck simply stacked against us causing us to theorize why?

That's the problem that cast guys face because we always believe that the next design will be the ticket. Or that there becomes some formidable limit. Sometimes it is, ..............................

Yep! That's a delemmer for dure. But it's one of the reasons I hang around here. I hate to waste money . Buying molds on speculating that they're going to work great in my load just may be throwing money down a rat hole. I feel comfortable enough to ask for help here. With all the strange (different) molds out there, surely someone would sell/trade/give some samples that I could try.
Hasn't happened to me yet, but I aint dead yet.

You will find I do post the loads and BOOLIT along with all the info I have here.

I am going to try some of Ranch Dogs .432 265Gr in my Marlin 1894 in Stainless with 22.5Gr and 23Gr of W-296 with a CCI Large Pistol Primer. Not a Mag primer as I have found for some reason the Mag Primer will open up groups. Which I was also informed of by 44Man here on the forum.

I have been shooting the Lee 310Gr Size .432 with 18.5Gr of W-296 and CCI Large Pistol Primer with 2in groups at 100 yards. But if I can shrink that I would be happy indeed. :)

My 1894 Marlin Blue in .357 Mag with Hornady 180Gr XTP/HP with 13Gr of W-296 with the CCI-550 Mag primer will give me a 1in by 3/4 in 5 shot group at 100 yards.

Sorry I have no report at 50 yards.

:)
