The renegade I just acquired is missing the rear sight and I've been looking at replacement options. I looked at used stock units, Williams,Lyman, and xs peep sights but haven't really found anything I care for until I found the Skinner peep sight but haven't seen much in the way of reviews and was curious if anyone here uses or is familiar with this sight.

Andy's sights are top quality.

Excellent news because I very much like the looks of it mounted on on octagon barrel. Another thing I was wondering is would it be beneficial to tap new holes farther down the barrel to move the sight closer to my eye as recommended with a peep sight setup or should I start in the stock location? Apologies for all the questions this is my first front stuffer and I have no one local to source information from.

I have several Skinners and like them a lot. Were it me I'd move the sight as close to the sidelock as possible. I sure lament that TC quit making their aperture sight, of which I'm fortunate to have two. GF

Let us know how it works out. If you can figure out how to post pictures, I'd love to see 'em. Personally, being an old, techno-resistant sexagenarian, I haven't had any luck posting pictures.

Previous owner boogered up the factory sight screw holes and will need to be tapped it's a 6 48 thread the replacement screws I picked up are .185 long would I use a plug tap or bottom tap? These were the tap options from the retailer that has the screws.

Didn't know Skinner sold peeps for traditional muzzle-loaders. I'll have to check that out. Thanks,

Peep sights work best mounted as close to your eye as possible. My suggestion would be to move the sight back as far as you can.

No kidding. A screw with a hole in it. They are the cheapest made peep sights there are.

Here is one that is a little more period correct, but not adjustable for elevation or very much windage.

You are giving me way too much credit. I bought it from muzzle loaders supply I believe. It has been awhile.

Well after much fussing and fighting I won and the sight screw holes have been tapped and the Skinner peep is firmly mounted to the renegade. I tried putting up pics but they wouldn't upload. I have to do some bedding on a new stock I was gifted by a generous member of another forum and it'll be ready to shoot .Thanks again to everyone for the help and support.
