Some of you have noticed my reappearance here after a lengthy absence. Other things have taken precedence, but now I'm motivated to gear up for something in early June.

Richard Davis started his pin shoots back up June 2017 after a 15+ year hiatus, and he has several classes that I can compete in with my various .500s, including a "concealed carry" event limited to guns with barrels no longer than 3.5", a revolver event requiring a reload (8 pins with a maximum of 6 rounds in the gun to start, so I'm having one .500 set up for moonclips), and a "Big Push" event where you must send 3 pins 14 1/2 FEET off the table.

I'm going to have to do some testing to determine the optimum load for that last one...

Michael Bane is planning to be there to get footage for The Shooting Gallery, which he hosts on the Outdoor Channel. Here's the list of events:

I was present for last years pin shoot and look forward to seeing you run a 500S&W with moon clips.

My initial thought to the big push would have been the AUTOMAG, but somebody tried a 44mag and it is just not enough. Just saying maybe a guy could do it with the AUTOMAG who knows his way around that gun.

I highly suggest using .500 special brass with the moon clips to speed your reload up. The mag brass gets wedged in with the grip and binds things up.

Your 400gr turned around like a wadcutter and 10-12 gr of unique should do it, if not the 700gr with 10gr unique give right around 950fps and not a lot of recoil, if you need some let me know.

Not fair if your muzzle blast alone will knock the pins down!

I once shot a round of ppc with my 454 Alaskan cut for moon clips. Shot about 5 points lower then my average but still good enough that I would have taken 4th place in that shoot. they had to let the other 4 shooters on the line reshoot though because the noise and concussion from the 454 kind of had them looking for new underwear. It was fun though and they still talk about it all the time.

This is me at the pinshoot with a borrowed.500 and some ammo bought from the guy onsite. Wish I had the last run because I went sub 5 seconds and was in first place. Until the very last shot of the match.

Well that new Mihec heavy boolit with an inch deep hole you're gonna get would quickly deposit a little bit of energy I suppose......

This next year will be interesting. I know a guy that plans on using a ar15 pistol in .458 socom. My guess is we shall see a few other odd setups.
