Was perusing the milsurps at the gun shop today and found a very nice condition Swedish m/38 manufactured by Husqvarna. Looks basically unused, but the finish is more like the black paint I am accustomed to seeing on Lee-Enfields than the deep blue I have seen on Swedish Mausers. Does anyone know if this type of finish was used on Husqvarna rifles, or rifles that were rearsenaled by Sweden? Serial numbers on the action match (not electropencil), stock disk indicates at least one inspection at arsenal, and the small import stamp goes through/into this finish so I'm guessing it came into the country this way.

Any info specific to Husqvarna/Swedish finishes would help. Looking online, I'm seeing mostly blued guns but I have also seen that production practices changed at Husqvarna in 1941 due to war demands.

My 1942 Husqvarna M38 has blued action/barrel/trigger guard, and bright bolt. Perhaps the brits borrowed it and thought they'd dress it up with a nice coating of Suncorite.

My brother has a Husky M38 that looks as bad as a late war K98. Crudely finished; I couldn't believe my eyes. The Carl Gustavs and the one Mauser-werke Swede I've owned were beautiful.
However his 38 is a shooter with several 1" groups to its credit.

I think maybe the difference is it wasn't well polished before blueing. I've now seen a couple online with similar finishes, including this one: https://www.pre98.com/shop/gone-but-not-forgotten/pending-mint-crisp-swedish-1941-husqvarna-m38-short-rifle-matching/

The Swedes used Du-lite black oxide for many years.
