How many here still have their Mark IV's and Mark X's either bought on a group buy here or purchased from Mike from Ballisticast?

I still have my Mark IV that I tweeked to run Magma molds. My minor PID control problem was fixed by adding a small fan to the control box. In addition I added a manual/automatic fan feature and programed the PID fan set points.

My pictures below.

I know someone that has one.
He automated it using pneumatics.
No PLC control, pure old school.

We are just starting getting a PLC program done for it.

Something I found out and maybe both of you can verify.

There were two models made. One had lead pour while the handle was at the top and the other had it while the handle was at the bottom.
My friend has one that does it at the bottom

Thank you 6b... I like the 2 mould ideal neat & compact unit.
Pour w/ handle up...pour w/ handle down??? With handle down was it a sw. pour or manual pour?

coffee's ready,,,,Hootmix.

Mine is strictly manual lead release by pulling the handle/lever down filing the mold and releasing the handle/lever.

I'd like to see a picture of that myself. I'd like to see how he used pneumatics to rotate the center section. Myself I think its going to take a sprocket/chain/motor assembly to move the rotating assembly unless one totally re-engineers the machine. I guess a air cylinder could possibly rotate the assembly if the handle was taken off or the handle was modified to accept the air cylinder's piston. The machine would have to be modified so the total travel was limited so the machines center assembly only moved 180 degrees with respect to the Mark IV only. The Mark X would have a maximum 90 degree travel per cycle to maintain correct mold alignment with the pour spout.

Looks like the Mark X works well. The Mark IV isn't going to work with an air cylinder simply because it takes 1/2 of a revolution to turn to the next station.

You can use a pneumatic rotary actuator in place of the cylinder. Bimba makes a 180 degree throw.. Bimba Pneu-turn... Just google search.. Tons of info..
