I have switched to PP in my 45-70 and because the boolits are seated right out the cartridge is around 3 inches long. None of my boxes will take them.
I wish to store them boolit up.
What is available as there must be something that holds 45-90 and 45-100 also?

Thanks.
Keith

Keith some of the 20 and 50 round MJM boxes do. The red and green 100 round boxes will not hold them upright. http://www.mtmcase-gard.com/caliber/ammo-box-45-70-govt.html
There are some ammo boxes custom build custom wood range boxes that are very nice or you just have to make your own.

A friend gave me this box but I made several for myself.
You can go the simple way and find small plastic boxes or ammo cans and cut a 2x10/12 block and drill holes like a loading block and use that for a base like my box has and you can make blocks under the holder to adjust the height you want. I put foam in the lid to hold the PP from falling out should the box tip over.

Or you can make yourself a simple line box like this that will hold enough rounds for a afternoon range time or on line at a match with cleaning supplies, tools and patches or what ever.

Just some ideas that are easy to make with simple tools.

These will hold .45-110 paper patched rounds, base down, easily:

They are much tougher than the MJM boxes too.

I looked at the MTM range and the RMLD-50 takes a cartridge length of 3.08" and the RSLD-50 takes 2.46" according to the specs.
So a bit short. I made a typo in the first post . I need 3 1/2 inches.
Those wooden boxes look wonderfull. I wish I had the skills and time.

Those J&J boxes might do the trick if I can get them in OZ. Get me going untill I can drill some wood.
Nice work done here by you and Lead Pot.
Thanks.

I used to use ammo cans with loading blocks like rfd has that I cut to fit the ammo cans like here at Midway. https://www.midwayusa.com/s?userSearchQuery=ammo+cans&userItemsPerPage=48 Air tight and moisture resistant and easy to carry. Those little 20 round boxes are ok and I have a bunch of them but they always tipped over and the PP bullets would roll off the bench or the separated test loads get mixed up when the shells roll over the bench or tip over on the truck seat.

i have a LOT of j&j's, and i use a length of 3m concrete and patio tape with a small 1/8" ply spacer to allow the lids on/off, between 3 of the 20 round boxes. tied up, they don't fall over.

The 50 round boxes made to hold the 300 RUM, and 300 wsm base down do fine job of holding 45-90 etc with paper patch bullets.

I was searching local websites and found these. Never heard of them before but sound OK
https://www.2alphashootingsupplies.com.au/product/smartreloader-ammo-box-rifle/
So looked them up with Google.

Their #8 with 32 rounds look right.

i dunno about those smartloader boxes. the compartments need to be .625" square to accept the head of a .45-70 brass case. then there's the cartridge length issue. i haven't found a commercial plastic box that can do just that besides j&j ... so far ...

Check out Berry' Bullets. I have been using their 412 bullet boxes for abou 8 years carrying 45-90 paper patch rounds to matches and they are cheap! $3.93 apiece. https://www.berrysmfg.com/item/bab-412-ultra-50rd

Did more ringing around yesterday. Looks like the SmartReloader stuff is not imported here any more . None of the boxes available.
One dealer had two MTM RF22-LM-10 left so I bought those to use in the meantime. They take bullet up to 3.84" long and list the 45-100 amongst others.

Those Berry's boxes that Todd referenced work very well. They are even work well with long buggers like the 40-90 bn.

If you can find a local makerspace they will have a laser cutter, most likely, and you should be able to get a box designed & made using that to cut thin birch plywood to form a box that's custom & would fit your exact needs, if nothing else is findable. Or 3d print a suitable case. Either of these you might be able to find design files on thingiverse to start from. Wood is prettier, true this :)

For my 510 wells express I use the 22 round MTM box. I prefer boxes over slip-top cases, and DEMAND mechanical hinges (living hinges make me angry for non-throwaway stuff). I wish it was 25 rounds, or 50, but I digress. Nothing else fits right.

https://www.amazon.com/MTM-Round-Flip-Top-Rifle-300-375/dp/B001Q8HCI8

Max OAL 3.84".

Will that cover your 45-100?

I LOVE the idea of a nice wooden box. but at hte end of the day I need something that is cheap, works, not bulky, and adds minimal weight because I don't use rolling boxes yet. MTM fills that need for now.

..............I use the Berry's 612 Ultra for my 45-90's, which look somewhat dwarfed in there :-) The cells are .640" square, while the internal height is 3.75" tall. They also make boxes that will hold the 577-450 and .577 Snider base down.

I do not understand why someone would have an issue shipping to Australia, New Zealand, or Tasmania? When I had my custom machining business I shipped to the 3 just mentioned and Canada, a few S. American countries, all the Scandinavian countries, Great Britain, France, Germany, and a couple former 'Iron Curtain' counties, and S. Africa.

The customs form is a very simple & 1/2 the size of a sheet of typing paper (mostly instructions) a couple boxes to fill in and 1 or 2 to place a check mark in. The only problem is as a private person you have to go to the post office to mail it. No big deal. You go ONLY on Tuesday or Wednesday (never before or after a holiday) and you go no earlier then 10 am, and NLT 1500 :-)

If you buy a large order of Berry's boxes ($75) they will cover the shipping.
I bought a large batch of 415s to use with the .50-90 Sharps and they covered the shipping.

Thanks for that. I've been doing business with them for years and didn't know it. Guess that says a lot about how much business I have done with them!
