I just put a Krag back together and want to shoot cast loads however my gas checks have not come in yet.

Any pet loads out there that I can use without gas checks? Will it be a problem regardless because I do not have plain base bullets?

It's Sunday, I'm headed for the basement to load some rounds with M2 ball then I'll be back to see if I got any replies!

Welcome to the forum. I shoot my SRH 44 with 310gr boolit without the GC but Its only going 1000fps. The big issue is brobably gas cutting the undersized base(without the check in place) at higher velocities-leading to leading(funny they're spelled the same:confused:) You could use a slower burning powder which may prevent it. In my 44 load I use 2400.:drinks: let us know what you find.

Newcastle, ME No gas checks no problem ,If your happy with vel. in the 22LR range(1300 or less) . Still good for 100 yd shooting . try the boolits you have and 5-7 grs of most fast pistol /shotgun powders IE: Bullseye,Red dot,W231 ect. also Unique at 7-10 grs works well ,Im sure theres more but these are the ones I have had good luck with .

BTW no filler or wad is needed with any of those loads.

I never use gc's and don't really have any problems! Especially pistols!
