It looks like Marlington is finally going to start shipping new 357 mag leverguns in 2018.

The first model isn't exactly my cup of tea but it is a good sign.

I've heard this time and time again since Remington bought Marlin. Until they're on the shelves I don't believe it. I have one of the few Remington made 1894Cs that were produced. There was a small run before they shut down production years ago. It runs flawlessly and I have no complaints.

After reading the article I have to laugh at the prices. Marlins are not $1k guns. I know people will buy them. But it's a lot less then if they were $600.

I agree that this gun is not for me and I agree that we have been let down before. But I am cautiously optimistic.

Apparently the new rifles are in the 2018 catalog. We'll see.

It's progress, I suppose. I wouldn't mind having a Remlin 1894C to spare my 1981 JM inclement weather and stout loads.

If we're getting into the $800-$1000 price range just get a Winchester/Miroku 92 and you have a much better chance of a nice well made gun.

They're different guns. I don't want a top eject lever. It's why I don't own any Winchesters. They are a higher quality gun. But you'd still need to send it off to have the barrel threaded.

Agree with that 100%. I will say this, the Remlin 1894 at my local shop is $479.00 so just a bit more than a Rossi. That is the one I would get to use as a beater.

Totally agree. The only currently produced lever action I would pay that kind of price for would be a Miroku made Winchester or Browning. That being said, I would not take $1000.00 for my 1981 1894C if it was offered to me. Maybe not even $2000.00. I have enjoyed that little carbine a bunch for nearly 20 years now, and will pass it down someday. Now, I would pay $600.00+ for a centerfire Henry, they are really good guns made by a really good company.

I'll look at them at the SHOT Show in a couple of weeks and see what they look like.

Did you guys scroll down the page of the story that I linked to? There is a photo of the 1894 page of the 2018 catalog. It shows a picture of a standard walnut and blued steel 1894C in 357 mag.

That is what I will be curious to see.

I'd really like to see them come out with more 41 Mags. Even with Henry having the 41 mags the prices on the Marlins have come down a bit

I was told by the Remington rep at the SHOT Show that there are no plans to bring the .41 Magnum 1894 back. He said that for every .41 Magnum they would sell, they could sell 10 .357 Magnums, and 5 .44 Magnums.

I've got 3 of the older Marlin .41 Magnums, one from the second run, one from the last run and a special edition in stainless steel made for Davidson's (1 of 251). I've got the whole set of special editions from Davidson's, all serial numbered the same, and unfired. Part of my retirement fund...........

Hope this helps.
