fragmenting of cast boolits

what is happening to my 135 gr Missouri 30 cal solid based projectile fired in a 94 win with 10.0 grs unique to cause 2 holes to appear in target when firing one shot? had this happen 40 yrs ago - HBCW loaded a little warm in a S&W M-28?

Your boolit might have fractured when dropped from the mold. What alloy are you using?

What distance ? I've had lube put holes in the target at close range before.

Dropping the bullet from the mold to soon can create a fracture at the lube groove.

I wonder if this "135 gr Missouri 30 cal" bullet has a deep lube groove like the MiHec 30 Sil. When I cast the 30 Sil from my 4 cav brass mold, which likes to be run HOT, sometimes I will get a few with a crack in the lube groove and/or a broken boolit. If I were to miss a crack during inspection, I'd probably end up having two holes in the target. The 30 Sil looks exactly like the boolits on the left side of the photo.
