Have quite a few old model N and K frame Smiths but made a trade for a Python 1982 vintage blued 6 inch this spring, first one. It is by far the most accurate revolver that I have ever handled, shooting cast bullets sized .356 work the best.

I use 357 brass loaded to 38 spl +P velocity with a cast Lee 123 grain TC 9mm bullet sized .356. Has light recoil and saves a little on the lead supply over a 150 grain SWC. I usually shoot without a rest two handed at the 30 foot pistol range they cloverleaf in a tight little group. The single action breaking like glass is the Python's plus, the double action pull is long and stacks up, not near as good as a Smith in double action.

I have a nickle python that I bought in 1980. A nail driver single action at 25 yards. Nice looking gun, the finish looks excellent from the photo.

The Python is a fine, accurate sidearm, as good as any I've seen, and better than most. :-D

Too bad they didn't make one in .44, or I'd own one. :-?

I had a six inch python a bunch of years ago that had been through the custom gun shot Colt has. That gun had the best single and double action trigger pulls I ever used and it was a tack driver to boot. I often regret that I sold it.

Handled a bunch of them, just never fell in love. Make youse guys a deal- I'll take all yer old, ratty Smiffs and give you all the Snake guns I come across- even up. Just send me your guns so I can have a box to send the Colts in, okay?:drinks:
