I went to the gun show today and scored a brand new 20ga Lyman sabot (pellet shaped) slug mold for $40.00:drinks: Ran right home and cast up a few. Man you got to keep the plug hot! got some @320.gr now how to load em? anyone got some favorite loads?

That's a great price on that mould:drinks:I only cast and load for the 12 gauge, so I can't share anything on the 20, but that design seems to work well for the 12 though.

got to the range, it was not pretty. keyholed @ 50yrds. guess I need a rifled barrel. suprisingly .530 rb shot 1.5" @ 50 yrds.

The Lyman 20ga. unlike the 12ga. equivalent has too large of a length to diameter ration and does need a rifled barrel to work correctly -- Go for the roundball idea with your smoothy, better yet get some tough steel shot wads and put three 0.490 balls cast hard for WW or harder with buffer and make yourself a real smacker of a load -- Use quality teflon based buffer and load via weight using very heavy lead shot load data.
