I have an old H&R 733, with a broken pawl spring. The spring broke in this revolver, years ago. It was my mother-in-law's, and I'd like to repair it, for my wife. It's in great shape, but non-functional. The spring broke, and I attempted to repair the problem. I bought a replacement part, which was the whisker spring and a new pawl. I used the old parts, to figure out the length of the spring, and cut it to that length. Evidently, there was another small piece of spring that was missing, so the new one is too short. I found another pawl assembly, but haven't ventured back in, for round two. I work on all my other firearms, but these revolvers seem to be a whole lot finickier than my pistols and rifles.
I contacted H&R, now Marlin, and they won't touch it, even with me supplying the new part.
Anyone know of a good armorer? All the guys, I used to know, are no longer with us. I hate to screw this up again. I know it's not worth putting a bunch of money into, but figured the wife would like to have it serviceable again.
Only problem with fixing it, would be a whole new set of molds and dies. Thanks

.

Welcome to the board, and HAPPY NEW YEAR ! !

I would suggest obtaining another new replacement part from Numrich ($7.50) & installing that.

Here's what a new one looks like, so you can compare the length of an original spring to it's pawl with what you have.
