I have an antiques appraiser/auctioneer friend that got in a Puma 357 92 lever in like new condition. I think it is kinda cute and would make a great CB rifle. What would be a reasonable amount of money to offer him?
Anyone shoot cast in one of these? How does it shoot?

Check GunBroker, you can buy them new for a little over $400. A good used one should be worth $350, $300 if he's your friend. I bought one at the gunshow about 6 months ago for $250, that was a bargain, I wouldn't have paid over $300 for it.

For the amount of work/money needed to get the rifle to run and look good i.e. new stock and sent off the the 92 Armorer I tracked down two Winchester/Miroku 1892. One of the moderators here completely redid his puma and it looked fantastic. I myself, am just not willing to put that much money into a RE-DO send out, send back, send out, send back ...... gun. If it was for FREE! I would be more than willing to invest that much time and money into it. But right now as of this date I am running a 85% FAILIAR rate with gunsmiths. The stocks would definately need to be replaced to suit my fancy if I had one.

I have searched through 16 hours of reading forums and feed back on these Pumas and gave them are very hard look see and they run 90% very good to 10% rework. For $500.00 though, I am not much of a gambling man.

I way over extended myself on the Winchester 92's and ended up selling of guns to augment my purchases. Ouch! That hurt!

This guy I am told is reliable and good at what he does.http://stevesgunz.com/
He probably makes a good living for himself fixing these "I just pulled it out of the box and now have to send it to a gunsmith" guns.

Nothing personal meant toward puma owners. I need shooters and not project guns at the present time.

I had my dealer order me a Puma in 480 Ruger . Think it was about 2 years ago . Paid about $350 for it . Took it home and kept in for a year then sold it to another fellow for $350 ! When I sold it to him I had never bothered to shoot it and it was still NEW !

If I hadn't had my dealer order it for me I would never have purchased it

I am sure they are nice enough guns , but they aren't my cup of tea shall we say [smilie=1:

There are numerous models of Puma rifles/carbines. The prices are likewise dissimilar. Stocking dealer price for the 24" color case hardened octagonal barrelled rifle I just bought is $450. I could have gotten the carbine for about $100 less.

Scrounger, what was the point in cutting and pasting gunbroker auctions?

The prices quoted (Bud's doesn't ship to every state, by the way) is not the true cost of acquiring the firearm in question. One must pay shipping, credit card fees in some cases, and ffl fees. That $380 can become $500 right quick!

I also noticed that one of the auctions listed a carbine but showed a picture of a rifle. Yeah, I read the disclaimer...still, it is disingenuous advertising in my mind.
