I am going to be using some 350 gr bullets in my Encore 475 L
I have a good supply of Australian 4227 and wondered if anyone had any good load info for that combination :bigsmyl2:

I've used it in the 480 Ruger with good success with 400gr lead boolits. Worked really well with nice recoil. Was able to load from 1000-1200 fps with accuracy and stopped there for fine tuning which I haven't been able to find time to do.

Good morning
That is one we never tried. 4198 worked well and got no further in our BFR.

one of my go to 475 loads is with "H" 4227. A 400 grain cast bullet, 27 grains of 4227 and a cci mag primer shoots well in about every 475 ive tried it in. It like 110 isn't a real good powder for downloading. If you want less then top end performance 2400 or aa9 are better choices.

I tried it in a 475LB with some Hornady 325s and didn't care for it. I really like HS6 for a moderate load. I'm running enough14.5-15.0 to get a Mihec 477-640 to 1150.

My experience with 475 Linebaugh was using only WFN-GC 400-grain bullets (21.4-grains H110, 400-grain LBT WFN-GC lubed with LBT Blue non-commercial, W-W LP Mag. primer, Starline brass). Shooting sessions were limited to three rounds - that's all I could take. Changing to 4227 load that was not maximum, as my H110 load was not maximum, my chronographed velocity was - as I recall - 1150 ± 50 fps. This was about 150 fps slower than my H110 load. It was also much quieter, much less muzzle flash, and I could shoot 40 rounds per session without problems. No animal mentioned noticing the difference in bullets' impact velocity or penetration.

Hope this helps.

21.4 grains of 110 with a 400 is flirting with to light of a load using 110. With a 400 in my 475s using 110/296 I never load below 23 grains as anything less and I starting getting big velocity swings over the chronograph. For the most part I stick to 25-27 grains with 110. that is the accuracy sweet spot for 110/296. If you want to load at that level your much better off using 20 grains of 2400 or 14 grains of hs6
