The wife and I were out and about today and stopped in at the Goodwill in search of Pewter.
I found a bowl and it weighs 1#6.5 oz and I paid $2 for it. The tuff is pretty thick and not sure if I can cut
it with tinsnips. The hall mark is `Colonial Pewter By Boardman' with some makers symbols.
The date on the price tag is Dec. 12 2017. That was the only piece they had.

I will try and post a couple of pictures as soon as the battery on my camera charges.

nice find
Just use a hammer and adjust it until it fits in your smelting pot

A three pound drilling hammer and a bench vise is by far the easiest processing method for pewter and I’ve done a lot of it.

I guess I'm the odd one. I prefer to smelt them down to manageable sizes. The mini muffin pans work great. Better storage also

The hammer and vise just make the item fit in a pot as efficiently as possible. I like to pour my ingots between 2 and 3 ounces in Potter moulds.

A plumbers torch makes short work of pewter. just melt off whatever you want in the pot.

I tried to cut that bowl with a pair of snips. That was more than my old hands wanted. I got out a propane torch I use for an annealing set up and
found out just how quick that stuff will melt. I made short work of that bowl in no time the Lyman ingots are a bit too big. I might remelt those into
a mini muffin pan to make lighter ingots from them.

I pour 1/8"-1/4" in the bottom of the mini-muffin and confectioner's tins. Weight range is 1.5-3 ounces.
