If wooly mammoths ever become nuisance varmints in Huntington Beach again I am so getting a .454. But not until then.

I'll just send you a pm and let you know when they get here......I have no
desire to fire one ever again.

I went ahead and loaded up a hundred rounds of 44's with the Lee 310 GC RNFP just in case the Velociraptors want to invade or harass the neighborhood !

I don't think that one on the left will fit in my Super Redhawk Toklat but I'd sure like to try it once.:-|

I think my wrist prefers the small one.

I think that is what they were going for. Though the cat probably is not quite orange enough.;)

That's one of my most accurate loads in my SRH.

I will, guess that will be a big "push" not so much the sharp recoil of faster lighter bullets in the 454. I like the heavy weights. My favorite loads in couple of rifles are a 460 grain over 12 grains of Unique in 45-70 big push pleasant to shoot drives lengthwise through deer. A 370 grain MiHec HP in the 480 Ruger over 8 grains of Universal 900 FPS from my Leveraction close to that from the Encore bbl. I really like the idea you have there and it does not intimidate me near as much as a 300 grains bullet loaded to the max from that same gun.

From a 12 inch barrel that 515 grain will do slightly north of 1300 fps. A 300 gr would have to do 2200 to have the same momentum.

If I want more than my 44 Magnum handguns can do for me I use a rifle. Gave up trying to upgrade my "man card" a long time ago.........

No offense meant to those who want to shoot the bigger cartridges in handguns.......

I am going to try some Lyman 457125 bullets later. They make an impressive looking cartridge. They extend into the cast slightly less than the 515 NEI. I Have a 550 grain NEI GC but that would be too much.

No kidding! 60k psi from a 7 1/2" barrel with a cyl gap to boot, gives more blast than I an willing to endure long enough to get proficient with. Load it down to about 36k lbs and I'm all in for that, but the blast is, uh....distracting. For the guys who like 454's, smok'em if you got'em.

I personally love my 460 S&W. Had a 454 but got tired of it. Btw I also have a BFR in .45-70 that is quite pleasing to shoot!

I have one. I pushed that same 515 NEI to 1440 chronoed in mine. It shot well. You need to try that.

Good morning
BFR's do help with heavy cast. I would rather shoot our BFR 475 with a 400 grainer than our 414 Dan Wesson with a 300 grainer at the same velocity any day.
