I had a little extra time on my hands, some might say too much time, so I thought I would improve on Col. Whelen's design and continue to neck up the good old
30-06 cartridge. How about a .466 Whelen? Chambering is going to be rough but there are always teething problems with new ideas.

I gotta ask, what the chamber looks like.
That is some bulge on the case. How much fireforming is going to happen?

Obviously designed for the modified Hall action of the Asperly Aimless.

It's a reverse bottleneck design. There are still a few engineering issues.

My .45 autos are larger at the front than the base.:drinks:

Ah yes yall shoulda known how simple this is to solve. Using a simple procedure to retube the case with copper tubeing as described in Donnally's book of cartridge conversions. Done with the correct tubeing thickness what you would end up with is a belted case with a very long belt. The leading edge of the belt would be located at about where the bulge from the boolis ends. You would have to establish head space dimentions, and likely have a fun time getting someone to cut a reamer.
You could also retube to a straight case and headspace off the mouth alla acp.
I saw that done with a 93 mauser chambered to 44/06 (444 rimless) and was ok. Of cource these type play things should be limited to actions with controlled round feed such as the mauser action. Reason being what the head space method is lacking in that bigol claw extractor sure helps make up for.
There ya go, food for fertile minds.
