Smetimes I fail to write down a load if I'm only shooting say, 3, for a quick test. Seems I seem to recall loading .444Marlin with 16 gr 2400 behind a 250gr cast that worked right well. Wanted to try it again but can't figure out where I got that load from and don't trust the gray cells to always work correctly. Am I on the right track or should I reconsider? GW
edit:seems to me the range given was from 16 to 21 or 22.

Lee does list a load of 22.0gr with a 240gr lead bullet and 25.0gr with a 265gr jacketed bullet.

That appears to be directly copied from the Alliant manual from 2001. Those are max charges listed.
Velocities were approx 1720fps for all three loads.

in my 444 i load a 280gr wfn gc with 26.0gr of 2400. i started out with 24.0gr and i went up to 26.5gr(24.5, 25, 25.5, 26). it may go up but i don't have the equipment to measure psi.

16.0 grains of 2400 is a very light load for the 44. Magnum, or a heavy load for a 44 spl. It should be perfectly safe in your 444, and may be very accurate.

FWIW, After reading advice here and doing some more reading in manuals, I loaded 3 using the same boolit and 18gr 2400, got a nice mild recoiling load that put all 3 in 3/4" at 25, which is where I always start. Must be awful low on pressure as the cases were sooted heavily. Guess I was just being mildly paranoid venturing off into what was for me uncharted territory. Better that than being stoopid. Thanks for the advice, I'm no longer impressed by heavy recoil. Will contnue working on this project. GW
