Looking for some loads that will operate the action of he garand with the 311299 boolit
That would be accurate for the military silhouette shoots out to 500 meters.

Have a bunch cast of cows plus monotype water dropped, made up some dummy rounds and they feed good with no nose deformation.

Any help would be appreciated

I have not shoot cast at 500 yards, but I load this boolit with IMR4895 beginning at 35 grains and work up until accuracy begins to fall off. 32 to 35 grains will usually work the action. All M1s are different so you have to find what works and is accurate in your gun.

My rifle I use for cast is one of my most worn. It functions on 34 grains of H4895 accuracy is better at 36 grains it holds the black of a SR 1 at 100 yards. Thats the best this rifle does with H2O dropped Cows.
Like to see how you do out at 500

I use I 4895@ 34 grains or I 3031@ 32 grains. Also half grain of dacron filler. The 3031 load has proven to be more accurate in two M1's.

Boolits are sized to .311 and carnuba blue is used for lube.
