500 S&W

I have heard that the early 500 S&W's had a problem with the compensators coming off when firing. Has anyone else heard this? How do I know if a 500 S&W is manufactored after that problem was corrected? I believe they corrected it by pinning the compensator. Where and how is it pinned?

The only problems I have heard of, 1 person shot there comp off after MANY rounds of lead bullets and did not clean the comp area. Lead buildup around the comp did not allow enough clearence for the bullet to pass thru and was shot off.
In other words clean the gun and you will have NO problems.At one time or other I have had 4 -SW 500 ,4" ,6.5" PC ,8" and the 10'5 " PC gun and NEVER a problem. I have the 6.5" and the 8-3/8" at this time.
